Indian Fighter Plane

A variant, the Su-30MK (NATO designation Flanker), has been sold to India with licensed local production to begin in 2000.

The aircraft is equipped to operate autonomously in combat over hostile territory, in escort of deep penetration strike aircraft, and in suppression of enemy airfields. The aircraft provides general air defense in cooperation with ground and airborne control stations.

The aircraft is equipped with a 30 mm gun and a range of missiles, rockets, and bombs mounted externally on ten hardpoints. The aircraft's infra-red search and track system, laser rangefinder, radar, and helmet mounted target designator provide detection, tracking, and attack capability.

The range of air-to-air missiles carried by the Su-27K aircraft includes:

  • R-27R1, all aspect medium range missile with semi-active homing
  • R-27T1 all aspect medium range missile with infra-red passive homing
  • R-73E all aspect close combat air-to-air missile with infra-red passive homing
The R-27R1 (NATO designation AA-10A Alamo-A) and the R-27T1 (AA-10B Alamo-B) has a range from 0.5 to 60 kilometres, with the aircraft flying from 20,000 to 27,000 m altitude and speeds up to 3,500 km/hour.

The R-73E (NATO designation AA-11 Archer) provides all-aspect target engagement in close, high maneuverability combat with load factor up to 12g. The range is from 0.3 to 20 kilometres.

Ordnance for air-to-ground missions include:

  • free fall and retarded aerial bombs 100, 250, and 500 kg
  • incendiary devices, 500 kg
  • RBK cluster bombs, 25 and 500 kg
  • unguided aerial missiles C-8, C-13 and C-25
The Su-27SK is equipped with a coherent pulse Doppler radar, Phazotron N001 Zhuk, with track-while-scan and look-down/shoot-down capability. The range of the radar against targets size 3 square metres is over 100 km in the forward hemisphere and 40 kilometres in the rear hemisphere. The radar has the capacity to search, detect, and track up to 10 targets with automatic threat assessment and prioritization.;

The aircraft has an OEPS-27 electro-optic system which includes an infra-red search and track (IRST) sensor collimated with a laser rangefinder. The range of the electro-optical system against a reheated target is from 40 to 100 kilometres depending on the aspect angle presented by the target.

The Su-27SK is equipped with a new electronic countermeasures suite for individual aircraft, and for mutual and group protection in the forward and rear hemispheres. The countermeasures system includes a pilot illumination radar warning receiver, chaff and infra-red decoy dispensers, and an active multimode jammer located in the wing-tip pods.

The Su-27SK is powered by two AL-31F turbofan engines designed by the Lyulka Engine Design Bureau (NPO Saturn). Each engine has two air intakes, a primary wedge intake and a louvred auxiliary air intake. The twin-shaft turbo-fan engine has after-turbine flow mixing, a common afterburner, an all mode variable area jet exhaust nozzle, an independent start and a main electronic control and a reserve hydromechanical engine mode control system. The engine nacelles have a semimonocoque configuration. The high temperature sections of the engines are made of titanium alloy.

The cockpit is equipped with a single zero/zero ejection seat type Zvesda K-36MD. The pilot is equipped with a helmet mounted target designator.

The fly-by-wire system in the Su-27SK uses quadruple redundancy of transducers, units and interfaces of the vital control channels to perform the following functions:

  • longitudinal control
  • provision of stability and controllability for longitudinal, lateral and yaw control
  • control of the aircraft configuration in maneuvers
  • restriction of parameters to keep within g-load and angle of attack limitations
  • decrease of aerodynamic loading to conform to limitations of aircraft structure

Indian Navy

The Indian Navy is the naval branch of the armed forces of India. With 55,000 men and women, including 5,000 naval aviation personnel and 2,000 Marine Commandos (MARCOS), it is the world's fourth largest navy.[1] The Indian Navy currently operates more than 155 vessels, including the aircraft carrier INS Viraat. India uses its navy to enhance its international relations through joint exercises, port visits, and humanitarian missions, including disaster relief. The Indian Navy is increasing its capabilities as a true blue-water navy the Indian Navy's doctrine states that this is for the collective good of nations.
The Indian Navy sees several principal roles for itself:

* In conjunction with other armed forces of the union, act to deter or defeat any threats or aggression against the territory, people or maritime interests of India, both in war and peace;
* Project influence in India's maritime area of interest, to further the nation’s political, economic and security objectives;
* In cooperation with the Indian Coast Guard, ensure good order and stability in India's maritime zones of responsibility.
* Provide maritime assistance (including disaster relief) in India's maritime neighbourhood.
* To play a key role as part of 'a pluralistic security order' for a better world
India has a maritime history dating back to 5,000 years.[6][7][8][9] The first [10][11] tidal dock is believed to have been built at Lothal around 2300 BCE during the Indus Valley Civilization, near the present day Mangrol harbour on the Gujarat coast. The Rig Veda written around 1500 BCE, credits Varuna with knowledge of the ocean routes and describes naval expeditions. There is reference to the side wings of a vessel called Plava, which give stability to the ship under storm conditions. A compass, Matsya yantra was used for navigation in the fourth and fifth century AD.[12]

The earliest known reference to an organization devoted to ships in ancient India is to the Mauryan Empire from the 4th century BCE. Emperor Chandragupta Maurya's Prime Minister Kautilya's Arthashastra devotes a full chapter on the state department of waterways under navadhyaksha (Sanskrit for Superintendent of ships) [1]. The term, nava dvipantaragamanam (Sanskrit for sailing to other lands by ships, i.e. Exploration) appears in this book in addition to appearing in the Buddhist text, Baudhayana Dharmasastra as the interpretation of the term, Samudrasamyanam.

Sea lanes between India and neighboring lands were the usual form of trade for many centuries, and are responsible for the widespread influence of Indian Culture on other societies. Powerful navies included those of the Maurya, Satavahana, Chola, Vijayanagara, Kalinga, Maratha and Moghul empires .[13] The Cholas excelled in foreign trade and maritime activity, extending their influence overseas to China and Southeast Asia.

China plans for war

While the details of Chinese military plans are secret, the general strategy isn’t. The weapons, equipment and techniques its military uses, and discusses in professional journals, makes it clear just how the Chinese plan to fight U.S. forces in the next war. Many Chinese military experts describe the U.S. as China’s principal foe and that some kind of conflict is inevitable. The Chinese military doesn’t plan to destroy U.S. forces, instead through attacks via the Internet and electronic warfare the Chinese will disrupt them. The Chinese have also developed insights into the details of how the U.S. Armed Forces operate and will adapt their tactics to exploit any U.S. weaknesses.

Military strength is a term that describes a quantification or reference to a nation's standing military forces or the capacity for fulfillment of that military's role. For example, the military strength of a given country could be interpreted as the number of individuals in its armed forces, the destructive potential of its arsenal, or both.

A military brat is a colloquial term for a child with at least one parent who served full-time in the armed forces. Children of armed forces members may move around to different military bases or international postings, which gives them an unusual childhood. Unlike common usage of the term brat, when it is used in this context, it is not necessarily a derogatory term.

Future of Indian Army

The Indian Army has commonly been manpower intensive, which abounding avant-garde intellects abuse as a hangover from the Second or even the First World War era. But it accept to be accepted that these credible anachronisms amble on even at present, due to assertive bread-and-butter as able-bodied as operational compulsions.

At one level, the disability of the Indian Army to afford manpower is due to abridgement of assets to alter it with high-end technologies, primarily because of the about low antecedence accorded to aegis planning, and bare ability allotment. In the absence of equipment, manpower accelerated alternatives, somehow accept to abide about by default. The unsatisfactory hybridization, which created the accepted Reorganized Army Plains Infantry Division – RAPID – is a acceptable archetype of this. In this case, the bounded anatomy was bargain by a brigade, on the acceptance that manpower appropriately bargain would be replaced by force multipliers and surveillance.

Needless to say, the Army waited for these in vain, because the banking assets for the abstruse makeover were artlessly never allotted. It is to be apparent whether these difficulties will abide in approaching as well. By present indications, it seems that they would still be about for absolutely some time. At addition level, abundance and boscage area in the arctic and eastern regions accumulated with all-encompassing deployments on adverse insurgency, accustomed operational imperatives for organizations with able manpower. Here, arduous technology, admitting helpful, was not the assertive factor, and there was no acting for numbers of acquiescent ‘boots on the ground’, as American armament in Iraq are acutely acquirements the harder way. So, in New Age organizations, manpower against technology will accept to be implemented anxiously and judiciously. At present, there is an acute agitation aural the aggressive and the blow of the cardinal association on the appearance of warfare in the future, and the blazon of army appropriate to accommodated approaching threats.

Will a acceptable accepted army, even if technologically upgraded, be able to handle these if they occur? Now that the action of re-construction is already beneath way, what affectionate of an Army 2020 should appear at the end of it? How and to what admeasurement will it or can it reflect the operational compulsions of that approaching time? The acknowledgment to these and added agnate questions accept to be acutely understood, which is that Indian Army 2020 accept to absorb the basal agreement of a accepted army, and not be mutated by abolitionist doctrinal anaplasty into some affectionate of abundant constabulary. The New Army accept to acquire basal multi-role operational capabilities beyond the absolute spectrum of conflict, whether nuclear, conventional, or low intensity.

They are adjustable abundant for structured regrouping for assorted contingencies. Changes to the absolute arrangement should be alien alone afterwards accurate deliberation.

The Cutting Edge of History

The cutting edge of history was ushered in by the various branches of the United States Armed Forces and their keeping of the history of their respective branch, partially through the preservation of a sword. These swords remained as a legacy to the hundreds of thousands of fallen soldiers, both now and in the past and continue to be beacons of hope that keep our nation safe, happy, and well protected.

Following in true tradition of the US Military swords, their history is respected and kept alive by the attention given to them and what they symbolize. The USMS sword is one that calls for a lot of attention to the duties and sacrifices by hundreds of thousands of men and women all over. The Marines are strict and run by a rigid set of rules that govern their behavior and their outward presentation to the rest of the world. Their sword symbolizes their purity, perfection, and their solidarity.

When you think of the Army swords, you may feel slightly confused if you have not ever seen an Army saber being displayed. For two reasons this is absolutely normal. The first being it is a somewhat archaic symbol of the might and power of the Army and the second being clandestine operations are highly used in the Army. Used for teaching your students, children, etc. about the rich history with the Army, these Army swords may be able to become the missing piece that enables full interaction with those supporting the cause.

Navy swords remain sharp designs created in 1860 during the Civil War as a more fluid design built off the original created in 1841. These swords, mainly the Navy NCO cutlasses, are beautiful creations to be shared with anyone who will take an interest in such things. The Navy cutlass is a perfected creation made of steel, boasting custom plating and a variety of other characteristics to carry it to the top of the class in appearances. When it comes to identity, this sword carries a heavy burden of savage memories from long ago wars and battles that helped to shape our nation into what it has become today. These memories are what need to be kept alive by us and our future generations. By experiencing this fantastic piece of the past, we quickly become immersed in the history and and the legends that served to shape our nation to this very day.

What Happened To Our Democracy?

After the devastation of World War II the world came to realize future wars using nuclear weapons could destroy this world and a new system for providing a more peaceful and civilized existence in this world was needed, thus the United Nations was formed.

The other direction governments could take was to pursue military expansionism with nuclear weapons to ensure their defense.

Once one single country pursued this path others were forced to follow and the overall purpose of the United Nations was nullified.

Today the American people have become oppressed slaves to their military power and have been forced to give up their democratic rights and freedoms for their security.

Ben Franklin stated, once you give up your liberty and democratic rights for your security, you deserve neither. The cost the American people have had to pay for their military power is being a constant target always having to defend itself from those who wish not to be militarily dominated by the U.S. government.

The American people and their democracy has been oppressed and dominated by fear as a result of their military power and expansionism.

The United States government is now the most barbaric, brutal, and uncivilized country in the world and has been responsible for more deaths (approximately seven million people killed) then any other country since the mid 1950's.

The strange thing is the American people act shocked when someone attacks their country (911, the USS Cole, etc) and can't understand why.

We have been conditioned to believe a strong military is the best way to defend our country, but when that military power jeopardizes our security and safety because our leaders are abusing it for purposes other then to defend our country, we should not be surprised.

Being civilized and living in Peace is the sacrifice we have made for military power.

They say when you live by the sword you die by the sword and we now live totally by the sword.

There was a time when it was patriotic to defend our country and democratic way of life, which was back when our democracy was one that was by the people, for the people, and of the people.

Today, our government is corporate controlled, which means we have sacrificed our democratic rights, freedoms, security, and safety to defend a government, which is by the corporations, for the corporations, and of the corporations.

This was not part of the original deal when our democracy was formed. Nowhere in our Constitution, Declaration of Independence, or Bill of Rights does it mention the American people must yield their democracy to the corporate powers.

The reason our democracy was formed was to be self- governing and get away from totalitarian rule. The first paragraph of the Declaration of Independence states clearly the obligation to preserve our democracy rest squarely with the American people, yet the American people are so oblivious to their democratic responsibilities they have allowed their democracy to fail. A democracy is only as strong as the people who participate in it.

The Military Hazards of Arrogance

Military people are frequently accused of being arrogant. The extremely confident air of some people gets them an accusation like this, but very often, the accusation is accurate. The profession of 'diplomacy through other means' breeds arrogance to some extent, simply because successfully using force against someone else is not a profession for milquetoasts. Some people are just plain arrogant, and others grow into it over the years. Nearly everyone has experienced the dubious pleasure of working with, or for, one of these people.

In the military, arrogance can have far reaching effects. Since commanders are the ones usually written about in the history books, they are the ones usually seen to be arrogant, and with good cause.
Napoleon didn't start out arrogant, but he rapidly became an expert in it. Highly competent, a visionary, and, literally, an empire builder; he fell prey to the idea that he could do no wrong. Moscow and Waterloo proved him wrong, but he never accepted that the failure was his. He was simply too arrogant to recognize his own shortcomings. The only general I know of that has a mental disease named after him. George Custer didn't make an out-of-character mistake at the Little Big Horn; he simply continued his normal pattern of arrogant behavior. His first 'Little Big Horn' occurred during the Civil War, when he led his Division in a rash attack against the superior enemy force during the Valley Campaign.

Plans to Increase Army's Strength

What we know, for fact, is the soldiers that are being sent to Afghanistan and Iraq are being sent on multiple tours; therefore it would seem reasonable to add additional combat troops to increase the end-strength of our Army.

The problem with adding troops is the fact they are either being blown to bits, and/or they are coming home with a host of medical and/or psychological needs that may eventually require treatment at a VA facility. As of 10:00 am EST on January 7, 2008, the Department of Defense is indicating 35,048 casualties for Iraq and Afghanistan. 4,378 dead and 30,670 wounded. The Afghanistan figures are only through December 29, 2007 so the actual toll will be higher.

My opposition to adding more troops is twofold; first I believe in negotiation, not war. Second, my husband is a former combat veteran and receives treatment at a Veterans Affairs Medical Center. If they are not already receiving VA care, sooner or later many of the 35,048 casualties, and additional troops that are service connected for medical and/or psychological problems, are going to require care at a VA facility and here is an example of what they might run into...

My husband received a letter from the VA asking him to call to schedule an appointment in the Endocrine clinic, my husband is service connected for Diabetes Mellitus caused by exposure to the herbicide Agent Orange and is seen on a fairly regular basis due to the numerous medical problems caused by Diabetes.

I called the number listed on the letter and after being put on hold for 9 minutes, I hung up and called the main number and was transferred to the clinic extension where I waited on hold for an additional 11 minutes. After a period of twenty minutes I was finally able to schedule an appointment, for next month. Remember, I was calling because the VA sent a letter requesting a call.

What is going to happen to the troops that don't get a letter requesting them to call? How long will they be put on hold? The majority of the brave men and women whose lives have been put in jeopardy over and over again, by this administration, are suffering from various stages of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder due to multiple combat tours.

Should they, along with the other approximate five million veterans the VA treats, have to wait 20 minutes just to schedule an appointment?

You are now in a position to provide commentary on adding 74,200 troops to our Army. Please take a few minutes to document your position on the subject by writing to the address listed above.
